Dolphin Research Center to Welcome Wounded Warriors for Dolphin Swim

Grassy Key…On Sunday, January 7, 2024, Dolphin Research Center (DRC) will welcome more than 40 military veterans from the Wounded Warrior Project’s annual Soldier Ride to enjoy a Dolphin Encounter dolphin swim free of charge during the annual Charles Evans Day for the Wounded Warrior Project.  Breakfast is prepared by Anchor’s Cafe, located at Dolphin Research Center, and the participants will be provided with wetsuits, compliments of  Captain Hook’s Marina and Dive Center.

The day helps to wrap up Soldier Ride, the adaptive cycling event organized by the Wounded Warrior Project. Since 2010, the group has visited DRC for the dolphin experience, which was made possible by a generous endowment from the Charles Evans Foundation.

The group, along with caregivers and Wounded Warrior Project staff,  is expected to arrive at DRC at 9:00 a.m. Members of the public are invited to come earlier and join DRC staff and volunteers at 8:30 a.m. as they line up to give a heroes’ welcome to the participants. Admission to DRC is free for current members. Other visitors may pay general admission or become members with their donations when they get to DRC.  Dolphin Research Center is located at 58901 Overseas Highway, mile marker 59, on Grassy Key.
