Grassy Key…The only program in the world where students earn an Occupational Associates degree in Marine Mammal Behavior, Care and Training, recently earned its accreditation. Dolphin Research Center Training Institute (DRCTI) provides an intensive program that includes classroom study and hands-on work alongside Dolphin Research Center’s leaders, trainers, and other experienced staff. Students not only earn a degree, they also gain the experience and knowledge to work at any marine mammal facility in the world. The Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges (ACCSC) accreditation #M072566 recognizes that the institute meets high standards in providing a quality program, operating with integrity, and is committed to enhancing student learning and achieving educational goals.
“DRCTI was designed to share the philosophy of relationship-based training which always puts the animal’s welfare first, giving students the skills to become expert communicators and caregivers,” explained school’s Director Linda Erb. “The accreditation reflects our high standards of excellence and we are honored to receive this official recognition.”
The next DRCTI class year begins in September 2018. Applications are being accepted through April 30th with on-site interviews scheduled to be held in June. In addition to the Occupational Associates program, DRCTI this year began a Professional Animal Trainers Certificate (PAT) program for those who are already working in the field and who seek to continue their education. More information about both programs, including prerequisites, dates and costs, can be found at the www.dolphins.org/drcti, or by calling 305-289-1121, ext. 215. Established in 2012, DRCTI is licensed by the State of Florida Commission for Independent Education (CIE) #4766.
