Recent Hurricane Damage

We Need Your Help!

We want to share that all the dolphins, sea lions, birds and tortoises survived the storms with flying colors. In both Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, the Keys sustained tropical storm force winds. While our buildings sustained no damage, the same cannot be said of the tikis on our causeway. Along with losing some palm fronds, both the Research Tower Tiki and the Causeway Tiki sustained structural damage. Due to safety concerns, we must replace them immediately. This repair will cost approximately $100,000.

I am so pleased to announce that a donor has pledged $50,000 as a matching challenge grant for this project. I hope you will consider joining her in donating so we can move forward quickly to restore these crucial shade structures. Your gift will have double the impact!

Tiki Damage

We are grateful that our damage was limited and all of our animals are well. Our hearts go out to those who were more severely impacted by these devastating storms.

Thank you for being a good friend to the DRC animal and human family.

Sincerely,

Rita Irwin

President and CEO
