Midland Donates GMRS Radios to Dolphin Research Center to Support Marine Conservation and Rescue Efforts

The radios will support daily operations, rescue coordination, and emergency response communications throughout the Florida Keys

KANSAS CITY, MO—July 31, 2026— Midland, a leader in two-way radio communication technology, announced a new partnership today with the Dolphin Research Center (DRC) in Grassy Key, Florida, donating dozens of GXT67 PRO GMRS radios to support the organization’s daily operations, marine mammal conservation and education efforts, throughout the Florida Keys.

For more than four decades, the Dolphin Research Center has been guided by its mission to promote peaceful coexistence, cooperation, and communication between marine mammals, humans, and the environment they share. They are currently the only federally and state licensed facility in the region authorized to rescue threatened manatees in distress.

“During a rescue, our team members may be spread out across multiple boats, kayaks, and on land, making clear and reliable communication essential,” said Ryan Webster, Assistant Director of Environmental Services & Rescue Team Lead of Dolphin Research Center. “Everyone needs to know what is happening and where help is needed, sometimes across a large area and in rapidly changing conditions. Having dependable radios allows our team to stay connected, coordinate our efforts, and work together safely and efficiently to give animals in distress the best possible care.”

Reliable communication is essential across the Dolphin Research Center’s waterfront facility, particularly in a region where changing weather and emergency situations require quick coordination among staff. The donated radios will assist with daily operations, wildlife rescue efforts, wildlife research, and emergency response activities, ensuring team members can stay connected when it matters most.

“We are thrilled to partner with the Dolphin Research Center and provide them with additional resources to support their mission of marine conservation,” said Jeremy Pensick, CEO of Midland. “The work being done by the DRC team to protect marine life and educate future generations is incredibly important. We’re proud to see our products making a real-world impact and helping support meaningful conservation efforts.”

The Dolphin Research Center will utilize Midland’s GXT67 PRO, selected for its heavy-duty design, high waterproof rating, long battery life, and powerful range. The radios can withstand the challenges of a changing coastal environment and will allow the staff to stay connected across the entire property.

“These radios will become part of the way we work across so many different areas of Dolphin Research Center,” said Allie Proskovec, Director of Media & Marketing of Dolphin Research Center. “Whether our team is caring for the animals, working with guests, supporting our education programs, conducting wildlife research, or responding to unexpected situations, being able to communicate easily makes a big difference. We’re very appreciative of Midland’s support and excited to put these radios to work.”
