[GRASSY KEY, FL] — Dolphin Research Center (DRC) is responding to a request to rehome
multiple marine mammals. DRC has committed to providing a permanent home for seven
individuals—all of which will eventually live in DRC’s natural water lagoons once transport
is complete.
The animals that will be relocated to DRC include:
● Clyde, California sea lion
● Raleigh, California sea lion
● JJ, bottlenose dolphin
● Samantha, bottlenose dolphin
● Ace, harbor seal
● Cane, harbor seal
● Baby, harbor seal
These animals are currently awaiting transport arrangements.
“Dolphin Research Center has a long history of welcoming marine mammals who need
lifelong, specialized care,” said Rita Irwin, President & CEO of Dolphin Research Center.
“We look forward to opening our arms to Clyde, Raleigh, JJ, Samantha, Ace, Cane, and Baby
and providing them with a forever home.”
Preparing to welcome seven new permanent residents involves extensive coordination, planning,
and resources. To support their safe transport, medical evaluations and needs, habitat preparation,
dietary needs, and ongoing individualized care, DRC is accepting donations at dolphins.org.
“Every contribution makes a meaningful, immediate difference,” said Mandy Rodriguez,
Founder & COO of Dolphin Research Center. “With community support, we can ensure these
animals transition smoothly into our safe and loving environment.”
