The welfare of the dolphins, sea lions and other animals in the Dolphin Research Center family is always our top priority. There are many products and items that we use every day to provide the animals with the finest care. These include a wide variety of things from antibacterial soap to sanitize the fish "kitchen" where dolphin meals are prepared, to important dietary supplements, even new coolers to serve their meals in the best condition, the gelatin for their enrichment treats, and much more.

Please note that our standards for animal care are very high; in many cases they exceed those required of us by the federal government. Even if less expensive versions of a particular product exist, we cannot accept substitutions. Please, purchase only the exact item specified.

Nebulizer Parts:
This nebulizer is a special device designed specifically for dolphins. It delivers aerosolized medication for prevention and treatment of respiratory conditions. The principle is the same as using an inhaler device for allergies in humans. A single entire nebulizer set up costs $2000!

Trainer Items:
If you've visited DRC, you've seen the trainers use whistles as a "bridge" that tells the dolphins that they've done a great job. It's an important part of their daily lives where every activity is enriching. The dolphins are used to a specific sound, so we need to stick with this particular brand. (Acme Thunderer Plastic Whistle, Size 660.) Through constant use, they wear down easily and need regular replacement.
The coolers are used every single day to serve the dolphins their meals. Due to wear and tear and the need to make sure that the surfaces are able to be adequately cleaned and sanitized the coolers must be replaced at least once a year, more often if needed. The dolphins eat so much fish that, sometimes, the coolers' handles even break!
