Outreach Programs

Teachers and Community Members Can Bring the World of Dolphins and Marine Life to Their Classrooms and Events

Can’t make it to our outdoor classroom at DRC? We’ll come to your classroom or community event! Dolphin Research Center offers a wide variety of outreach options to meet the varying needs of events and audiences.

Classroom based programs may feature:

  • Powerpoint presentations on dolphins, marine mammals and the environment

  • Fun games and activities that illustrate: conservation practices, animal characteristics, marine science concepts and more

  • Props and biofacts

  • Puppet shows

  • STEAM elements

  • Can be standards-based to meet classroom objectives

  • Conservation components

Booth based programs may feature:

  • Informational materials

  • Conservation components

  • Props and biofacts

  • Short, hands on activities or crafts that illustrate: conservation practices, animal characteristics, marine science concepts, and more

  • Can be standards-based to meet school/classroom objectives if requested in advance, or can be themed to match the community event

Guest Speaker events may feature:

  • Powerpoint presentations on dolphins, marine mammals and the environment

  • Conservation components

  • Informational materials

  • Props and biofacts

  • Question and answer with a marine mammal expert

  • Games and activities can be added upon request

  • Can be standards-based to meet school/classroom objectives if requested in advance, or can be themed to match the community event

Groups and classrooms may select from the programs below, or propose their own! Many of our programs can be customized to meet the needs of the requesting group, whether it be for a community booth, an assembly style presentation, or a classroom activity. Please note: Advanced notice is required if there are specific requests from the event organizer or group regarding customizing or adding to the presentation.

Outreach programs are - FREE if your school or event is located in Monroe County. Outreach activities outside of Monroe County may have associated costs dependent upon the location and type of program. To bring the world  of dolphins and other marine mammals to your event with Dolphin Research, please contact us by emailing education@dolphins.org, or by calling 305-289-1121 ext 244. Staff availablility, time of year, and previously scheduled programming may limit the times in which outreach activities are available.
