Common Name: Harbor Seal

Scientific Name: Phoca vitulina

Birth Date: February 23, 1992

My Story: Baby has not yet arrived at Dolphin Research Center, and we’re eagerly awaiting the moment we can welcome her home. Thank you for your patience—your support means the world to Baby, who will soon call DRC her forever home.

Baby is harbor seal royalty, born on February 23, 1992 in California and affectionately known as “The Queen.” Even after eye surgeries, Baby is blind but she has never let that slow her down and has spent decades inspiring everyone around her with her calm, patient, and intelligent demeanor, demonstrating to all what it means to lead by example. She was the seal who helped launch the swim with seals program at Miami Seaquarium, teaching humans how she liked to interact with them.  Though she may turn up her nose at squid, her heart and spirit are treasured by all who know her. Baby is a living legend — wise, loving, and unforgettable.

Our Mission - Through education, research and rescue, Dolphin Research Center promotes peaceful coexistence, cooperation and communication between marine mammals, humans and the environment we share with the well being of DRC's animals taking precedence.
