Our Animal Family

Common Name: Bottlenose Dolphin

Scientific Name: Tursiops Truncatus

Parents: Cayo/TBD

Birth Date: November 3, 2022

Defining Trait: You can identify Morada by her dark skin, sleek rostrum, and curved dorsal fin.

My Story: On November 3rd 2022, just as the sun was setting, a new little soul swam into the DRC family. Morada, named after the island of Islamorada, was Cayo’s very first calf. She was strong and healthy, and Cayo, a brand-new mom, took excellent care of her.

Almost from birth, we saw that this little lady has an independent spirit, a strong will, and a hint of sass much like her mother. Morada doesn’t do anything she doesn’t want to do. Everything is on her terms. She is curious, bright, and she lets you know what she wants!

Morada also likes to spend time playing with Bowie and these two have become good friends as they grow and explore their world together. We expect incredible things from this young lady and can’t wait to see what her future holds!

Our Mission - Through education, research and rescue, Dolphin Research Center promotes peaceful coexistence, cooperation and communication between marine mammals, humans and the environment we share with the well being of DRC's animals taking precedence.
